The #1 Hurdle

Document Attestation — Start This Early

Attestation is the single biggest bottleneck for Pakistani students heading to the UAE. Every academic document must pass through a strict four-step chain before it's accepted.

1

IBCC or HEC (Pakistan)

School certificates (Matric/Intermediate) are attested by IBCC; degrees and transcripts by HEC.

2

MOFA Pakistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad attests the documents next.

3

UAE Embassy in Islamabad

The UAE Embassy attests the documents for use in the Emirates.

4

MOFA UAE (final)

Once in the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs completes the final attestation. Only now are your documents valid for universities, immigration and employers.

Universities, immigration, and employers reject any document lacking proper MOFA attestation. Attest your degree, Matric and Intermediate certificates plus all marksheets (DMCs). Start the whole chain 2–3 months before your intake — this is where most students lose time.
Academic Requirements

Entry & English Requirements

FSc / A-Levels → Direct Entry

Undergraduate

  • FSc / HSSC generally accepted for direct entry
  • Requires IBCC equivalency + UAE Ministry of Education Grade 12 equivalency
  • A-Levels accepted; IBCC issues equivalence to Intermediate
  • Branch campuses assess A-Levels directly against UK entry tariffs
English Requirements

IELTS / TOEFL / EmSAT

  • Most universities: IELTS 6.0–6.5 or TOEFL iBT 79–90
  • UAEU accepts IELTS 5.5; Abu Dhabi University 5.0
  • AUS: IELTS 6.5; NYU Abu Dhabi & MBZUAI: IELTS 7.0
  • EmSAT (UAE's national test) accepted as an alternative; English-medium school students may be exempt
UAE Student Visa

The Student Visa — Sponsored by Your University

You cannot self-sponsor a UAE student visa — the university sponsors it and files with the GDRFA. It's issued for one year and renewable annually while you study.

1

University issues an entry permit

After you accept your offer (and often pay the year's tuition), the university files for your entry permit with the GDRFA.

2

Enter the UAE and take the medical fitness test

Within about two weeks of arriving, complete the mandatory medical (blood tests + chest X-ray / TB screening).

3

Emirates ID biometrics

Complete your Emirates ID registration and biometrics.

4

Residence visa stamped

Your student residence visa is stamped into your passport, valid for one year and renewable.
